{"id":690,"date":"2008-03-15T18:26:22","date_gmt":"2008-03-15T17:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vaeter-und-karriere.de\/blog\/index.php\/2008\/03\/15\/fathers-matter-a-lot\/"},"modified":"2008-03-15T18:26:22","modified_gmt":"2008-03-15T17:26:22","slug":"fathers-matter-a-lot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vaeter-und-karriere.de\/blog\/index.php\/2008\/03\/15\/fathers-matter-a-lot\/","title":{"rendered":"Fathers matter &#8211; a LOT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-top: 6pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana\">Hot on the heels of other recent high quality <a title=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Fathering-Child-Outcomes-Eirini-Flouri\/dp\/0470861673\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Fathering-Child-Outcomes-Eirini-Flouri\/dp\/0470861673%20\">research<\/a> which has found a clear connection between strong and positive father-child relationships and good outcomes for children, comes a new and very significant research review from Upsala University in Sweden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 6pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana\">The researchers, who reviewed 20 years\u2019 worth of child development studies, found that regular positive contact between a child and a father or father figure has a range of positive outcomes, including reduced behavioural and psychological problems and enhanced cognitive development. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 6pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana\">One study they reviewed found father-figures to have particular influence; another found that in low-income families it was the non-resident biological father-child relationship that mattered more.
